Product Highlights:
- Carrot Vegetable Seeds: Mr Fothergill’s Carrot Chantenay Red Cored 2 is an early stump-rooted maincrop carrot variety that produces orange roots with a fine taste, good texture and small cores.
- When and How to Sow: Sow outdoors from March to June where they are to crop, 1.5cm deep directly into finely prepared, light and fertile soil that has already been watered.
- Spacing and Germination Guide: Sow thinly and allow 30cm between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 14 to 21 days, and early sowings may benefit from cloche protection.
- Growing and Thinning Tips: Water well until plants are established. Thin by harvesting young carrots evenly, allowing the remaining roots to grow on for a longer cropping period.
- Harvest, Uses and Benefits: Harvest from June to November. Sow little and often for a continuous crop, then lift roots in autumn, remove soil and store in dry sand for later use.
